Ombrellificio Poggesi was founded in 1964 when a simple artisan began his activity of producing tents and umbrellas for the stalls of the local markets.
In those years of the economic development when large retailers were not yet developed and people used to go shopping at the street market, Poggesi created and affirmed its name throughout all Tuscany.

For 30 years, Poggesi has operated on a regional level, but inside the company a spirit of change was up to raise which could have been capable of leading the Ombrellificio Poggesi beyond the territorial boundaries of Tuscany.
However, Ombrellificio Poggesi wanted to maintain the family aspect where all the employees, the few of them, gave their contribution with their know-how and their knowledge in order to put in the market a product which had to be perceived as extremely of high quality as possible by the customers.
In 1993 the property had a great idea, the Ombrellificio had to slowly stop the production of market umbrellas in order to specialize itself on more specific kind of product the outdoor parasol for private use and for commercial use.
During this process of changing, where it could be said that the Ombrellificio Poggesi was starting from scratch, an idea came up which would have revolutionized the concept of a side pole umbrella.
The classic side pole umbrellas on the market had the side arm above the canopy and when closed they were still bulky and aesthetically not elegant to be seen.
Furthermore, in order to close them, it was necessary to remove tables and chairs positioned below the umbrella and for a bar or a restaurant, these are actions that require time.
Together with another historic friend of Ombrellificio Poggesi, who still today is the smart mind of the company, a new concept of a side pole umbrella was born.
The arm is positioned under the canopy, reducing the space occupied when closed and the telescopic movement is added. With the latter the removal of the furniture below was not needed any more: the Summer parasol comes to its life.
This extraordinary innovation, which was also patented, spreads inside the furniture for outdoor market, making the Poggesi brand known internationally.
The company began its expansion without ever losing the radical contact with the territory.
The production assumes an industrial aspect without neglecting manual skill and craftsmanship; starting from the sewing of the canopy up to the setting of the ribs.
Expansion abroad also began in the 1990s. The first country on which the Ombrellificio puts its eyes is the United Kingdom. Slowly Poggesi umbrellas began to be installed for homes, pubs and restaurants, till the moment when the property decided to entrust the distribution to a single partner operating under the name of Poggesi UK
Other European countries were surrounded by the Poggesi effect, first of all Germany where the outdoor furniture sector is very developed thanks to their culture of outdoor living. Follows France, where Poggesi umbrellas reached the Arc de Triomphe.
In 2016 Poggesi boundaries go beyond the Atlantic Ocean toward the United States. The path followed was the same as those of England, but at a crazy speed. In just 3 years, Poggesi USA got brilliant results by placing Poggesi umbrellas in all Miami and the States.
In all this expansion, Ombrellificio Poggesi has never forgotten to take care of its umbrellas. It has committed itself to add important improvements to its models in order to make the products more comfortable. Moreover, in order to guarantee the stability and safety of their umbrellas, Ombrellificio Poggesi organizes wind tests, becoming a game changing company.
In this whole process of expansion, innovation and modernization, the Ombrellificio Poggesi follows the fashion trends of the interior and exterior furnishing in order to be always updated.
The cooperation with famous designers has been the next step. Arch. Roberto Semprini starts his collaboration with Ombrellificio Poggesi as Art Director designing the Joint Model presented at the 2018 Salone del Mobile.

KING
King parasol celebrates its own name, thanks to its extension up to 5 mt and its patented cantilever structure. The model stands out for its elegance and its details which underline its aesthetic and functionality. Opening and closing are possible through a crank which activates a winch device. Through the same crank it is possible to rule the height of the side arm, while with a lever it is possible to move the canopy from up to down. The structure is totally in aluminum with the shaft of 117x106x3 mm and the side arm of 105x73x3 mm, customizable in the color thanks to the thermosetting powder coat. Nuts, bolts and screws are in stainless steel.
BABY KING
Baby King parasol is the same model of King but in a smaller dimension.

SUMMER
Summer parasol is the first parasol developed by Poggesi with a patented system where the side arm is put under the canopy, differently from all the existing cantilever umbrellas. Opening and closing are possible through a crank which activates a winch device. With a lever it is possible to high and low the height of the side arm. This model has got no competitors in the value for money, even though its features and finishes are standard. The structure is totally in aluminum with the shaft of 90x90x2.5 mm and the side arm of 80x50x2.5 mm, customizable in the color white, graphite, brown thanks to the thermosetting powder coat. MAGNUM
Magnum parasol is the top our central pole models. Suitable for shading big spaces, this is the favorite model for cafes and restaurants.
